Typically, when someone tells you to watch a show about nothing, you would just roll your eyes and find something more interesting. But if someone tells you to watch a FUNNY show about nothing, then that is a whole 'nother story. Azumanga Daioh is one of those shows that someone would like to watch if thay are not expecting much of a plot, anything that would make sence, and the like, and actually have the patience to go though what is one of the biggest turn offs the show has, its pacing, but more on that later.

Story: ok, long story short, there is none. The show really does focus on the everyday events and the point of view each character has. But a lot of the plot is overdone and predictable to the point where you would know what the entire episode is about just by looking at the preview. They reuse the same plot how many times thoughout the show, each one with a different approach to spice things up. But in general you will know what will happen for most of the episode.

Art: The show has a unique cartoony "dont actually take me serious" artsyle to it. The characters themselves are drawn well (though some character designs to look a bit bland), but the more comical portions of the show has art that compliments well with what is going on inthe scene, though it is usually the typical anime faces where all detail goes down the drain just based on how they react. The annimation itself does seem a bit on the old side at times, but still gets the job done most of the time.

Sound: Nothing much to say here, OP and the ED do seem to fit the show really well (because.....there is nothing that can "fit" the show), and the voices are what you would expect. Most, if not all character stereotype is shown here with a voice that compliments it well.

Character: pretty much the main factor if you will think this show is good or not. the characters pretty much support each other to keep the watchers interest. each one has a bright (if thats the word you would want to use) personality that can be very flamboyant at times. The characters themselves will proably be the only source of your laughter on the show, since they fit so uniquely to the absurdness of the show. Each one stands out as the show progresses, and each character pretty much get the same amount of screentime as all the other main characters.

Enjoyment: If you can laugh at the most random and absurd things in life lightheartedly, you will laugh at this, and you will enjoy it. But this is also where you can easily get bored of the show, since the pacing between anything in the show takes so long (especally in the earlier episodes), a viewer who is into more fast paced stuff will probably get bored of it quickly. The story progresses, but it seems to take its time progressing, to the point where the viewer could just get bored with it.

In the end: its pretty much a love it or hate it show, you love it if you like the characters and the silliness of the show, you hate it if it goes too slow and the plot doesnt make sence to you. Either way, it is based on how you enjoy watching these types of shows.
