Sukitte Ii na yo -- "Say I love you" is a very typical romance anime that doesn't deviate too much from the normal romance story. The main character, Tachibana Mei, is your average reserved high school girl who's been through some drama in her life and deals with it in a very usual manner. The story can become really easy to predict at most points and that is actually my only issue with the series; I sometimes found myself getting zoned out because I was predicting the events of the series too well.

I enjoy the art direction of the series; it's very bright and animations are pretty fluid. Character development, while very quick, is very realistic. Though at sometimes Mei's character irritated me. But that is typical with most reserved characters for me. For the most part, the main characters are pretty interesting. The side characters weren't as interesting unfortunately.

If you haven't watched a romance anime before, "Sukitte Ii na yo" is a good place to start as it doesn't get too ridiculous and wouldn't overwhelm newcomers to the genre.
