Mixed Feelings
Going into this anime, I was expecting a lot from it. The director made GitS:SAC and that show is one of my favorite anime series of all time. This anime, however, was actually a bit of a let-down. The initial start of the series isn't too horrible, the first episode has quite a few significant plot elements introduced and many characters are discussed and introduced. However, one problem that was particularly persistent throughout the series was the lack of proper time management.

You see, every week I would watch 1 episode of this show because that was all that was available for me. That episode would end, and I would have to wait for the next new episode. That generally isn't a problem with most series. However, Moribito has a problem with getting things accomplished in 1 episode that is of significance. For example, I remember the main protagonist being bed-ridden for about 2 episodes, which is quite a long time considering of the weekly break between each episode. Another example would be extremely long intro scenes for scenes that weren't very important overall. That made my enjoyment factor of this review very low, because I just couldn't get myself to enjoy this show with it's incredibly slow pace. This also lowered the "story" score, for it seemed as though the director didn't put enough emphasis on significant story events and put a lot in events with little importance.

The art was great. However, the CG or 3d implementation was not. Frame rates of 3d animation were choppy and looked out of date. Also had a grainy texture to it. Sometimes deemed inconsistent with the 2d artwork. Background art was great as well.

Sound was pretty good, no real memorable melodies but it definitely added and didn't subtract from the experience. Was not a fan of opening cred or end cred songs however.

Character design was pretty good though there were some characters I felt that were almost ignored and seemed insignificant. However, that does not mean that the character design was at all flawed! In fact, it was probably it's strongest suit.

I won't say it is a horrible show, but it is very slow paced and for me that is a BAD thing. Some people may enjoy that style, but I was very irritated by it. Maybe if I watched the series back after back without the week break it would feel like things were accomplished, however that would just mean that the director did not properly use his time.
