I wanted so badly to enjoy Elfen Lied. At first, the gore and nudity was not that bad. Many people say that others dropped it because of the gore/nudity was too much for them. I struggled very hard not to drop it around the end. The more characters are established, the more devastating their lives become. It was really difficult to watch all the tragedy. It's constant towards the end. It really depressed me quite a bit and I think thats my main issue with this anime.
There's too much death and tragedy. It was so sad at times and for no good reason.
Its understandable to give your character a tragic history but I feel the writers went over the top on this one. I don't suggest watching this is you are a very empathetic person, as it will sadden you a lot.
If you love mindless gore and death and enjoy the Hitman character then go ahead and watch this unforgiving, unashamed and totally heart-wrenching anime.
