Ghost Hunt was recommended to me by an aunt, so I was skeptical as to whether I would like it or not. I can now proudly say that it's one of my favorite anime. The art style is as good as can be expected from an anime, but overall is nothing special. Sound isn't one of it's strong points either, it wasn't particularly memorable. The characters are one of its weak points, at times they feel thin and archetypal. However when it comes to story it excels. Ghost Hunt is genuinely good at inducing feelings of discomfort and uneasiness in its viewers, and does so using a kind of psychological horror approach: using feelings of dread and uncertainty instead of the usual disgust and surprise. Out of all 25 episodes only two managed to keep me up at night with fear. I won't say which, that would ruin the fun, but the latter of the two actually forced me to sleep with the lights on and soft music playing. Despite the good atmosphere created by the individual episodes the overarching story is somewhat dry and boring. Despite its flaws Ghost Hunt is a good anime to watch if you find yourself alone and need some adrenaline.
