Story (10/10): you probably won't understand why did the people die then live again in the start, but as time goes by, you will understand everything. The best thing in Higurashi is the story: everything is well explained, the plot is original (and disturbing) and holds you until the last episode.
Art (10/10): the art is amazing, the animators made even the cute little girls look scary as hell sometimes. The backgrounds are well drawn too, showing that not every animator is lazy.
Sound (9/10): the sound is awesome. The opening is really good, but the ending is not that good. The sound effects are pretty good too, the sound of cicadas made me shiver every time I heard it.
Character (10/10): there aren't many characters, but all of them are masterfully developed. Even the secundary ones have part on the plot, and everything is connected.
Enjoyment (10/10): I watched Higurashi a thousand times, and every time I re-watch it I find something that I didn't noticed earlier, and enjoy even more than before.
Overall (10/10): the awesome story, plus the masterfully developed characters, plus the scary soundtrack... This is one of my favorite animes so far. People usually watch HNNKN because of the violence, but they don't see the true greatness of this anime: the clever story, what makes Higurashi such a masterpiece.
