Both stories are similar in a way that main characters create a team where they try to bring best out of each other and for the main characters it is their first time being on a real team where they are accepted. Also fun part is that in Haikyuu the relationship between main characters is kind of rival-ish: both know how to talk back to each other, while in Ookiku the relationship is more supportive, at least in the beginning. Also, did I mention that the main characters are visually similar? It's so fun to see visually similar characters act totally opposite in different manga.
Both main characters helps each other to overcome their weaknesses and they have huge trust between each other (Hinata with kageyama, Abe with Mihashi). The humor, style and the feelings of the games are pretty similar. Not like the usual sports manga, the characters are well developed and both have pretty detailed information of strategies, game rules and other game-related explanation.
Both are unique, have light atmsophere and fun to read
