Both have main girls that have a special 'spiritual-seeing' ability, and guys that are working as shinigami to pay off their debts. Also, both mangas have a recurring theme of money and how the main characters suffer from some sort of poverty.
Despite their different themes, Zombie-Loan and Kyoukai no Rinne operates with similar standards with their storytelling. Both series' main female protagonist possesses a special ability to see what others cannot. They use that ability to help the helpless. Throughout both series, they also build relationships with many other characters such as with the main male leads. There is also a good deal amount of characterization with a variety of approaches that deals with their premise.
