Both are pretty somber stories with a female lead in it as well as also really nice art and character designs.

One chapter in Twin Spica set in the past came to mind as I was reading Socrates in Love, as both that and the latter manga as a whole feature a tragic relationship of star-crossed students. Said relationship is recalled through both manga as a memory, as Twin Spica had this element as kind of a one-shot chapter and Socrates in Love starts off with the main character recalling the past, which leads into the story. Even outside of the one chapter in Twin Spica has somewhat of the same melancholic, slow vibe as Socrates in Love.
