Dark, psychological romance, with a relationship driven by a sadistic, dominant, and fairly mysterious female. The beta male protagonist ends up changing (either for the worse in the case of Aku no Hana, or better in the case of Sundome) due to the relationship. Sundome is more heavy on the ecchi, but uses the theme of "perversion" to a greater effect than Aku no Hana. As deconstructions of the coming of age genre, both manga also deal with a ton of teen angst.

Both are psychological, romantic dramas that take place in a school. A wimpy guy follows a girl around yet he is always somewhat scared of being rejected by her or hurt by her. Both guys go through a lot of development over the course of the manga. The girls also grow closer to the guys. Slight Differences: Sundome is ecchi though while Aku no Hana is not. The girls are different in their own ways despite having similar effects on the guys, and there are also two other girls in Aku no Hana while there is just one main girl in Sundome.

Both have perverted protagonists though Sundome is way more perverted than Aku no hana and sundome is not as much inclined on the 'Psychological Thriller' side as compared to Aku no Hana

Sundome follows a more "episodic" format but the story and characters are similar. Both follow a dysfunctional male and female and their awkward and sometimes abusive relationship. The two manga also explore the darkness within the minds of the teenagers and their deepest fantasies/thoughts. In both, you can find the hopeless and wimp male MC that is persuaded and somewhat corrupted by a female character with a dark and secret background they idolize and obsess with. Doubt, betrayal, sex, obsession, etc... You can see why they are similar by now. There are also some striking differences. Aku no Hana has a fantastic artwork whereas Sundome's artwork is   read more

If you liked the weird relationship between the main characters Sundome 10x that with showing you more of it. They are both about what would a highschool kid do for his first love.

Both are bleak and dark psychological theme stories (though sundrome is more on the ecchi side of things) and focus on a more somber side of growing up.
