Alice in Kyoto Forest and Golden Japanesque are two must-reads for lovers of oldschool Japanese culture: the artists on these series have a way of beautifully presenting historical Japan through the setting and backgrounds, whether it's set in another world version of Kyoto where it seems to have been frozen in time and steeped in Japanese mythology, or an actual historical fiction set in Meiji-era Yokohama.
