Gripping Jinsei Kataoka x Kazuma Kondo works that are a mix of several different genres (sci-fi, drama, action, psychological, some romance). Both were serialized in Shounen Ace, but are more mature than most series of this demographic.
Our protagonist is a kid with a monotonous life who suddenly encounters a strange girl, and sees his life change drastically - for better or worse. The characters will encounter friends and enemies, going through exciting and sometimes (or often) tragic situations.

They are written by the same authors. The manga adaptation of Eureka Seven is a more mature and "edgy" adaptation of the anime series. I honestly prefer the manga version of Eureka Seven to its anime counterpart. It's definitely worth checking out if you are remotely interested in mechs.
