Both shows deal with 'death' in a sense or saying goodbye to a loved one, both are very emotional shows and take you on a roller coaster of emotions. Though they have different settings you get similar vibes from both.

Well, apart from the fact that the protagonists of both of the anime(Tsukasa and Isla in Plastic Memories-and Jintan and Menma in AnoHana) look like a lot, you would find similarities even with their stories...As yes you are going to laugh, get a cuteness overload, you are going to need for a romantic hug with your significant other while you watch it and much pain and sadness to the end-and no that's not a spoiler because we all see it coming- for BOTH...
Get tissues and enjoy the masterpiece of both of these anime...

both shows are super sad and keep up a solid pace. there's some light humor every once in a while but the sad and depresive undertone is always present
the two tv series have similar ending, that makes some tears at the end. how they give a last words to beloved person, and some wish to reincarnation. some different like anohana is the soul that come back to fullfil the wish, and plastic memories just a humanoid that only have a little time to spend with her partner. but two of them give a heartwarming tears at the end

Plastic memories is extremely underrated. It has a really good first episode. It relates to anohana as the romance slowly develops and isn't just sparked out of nowhere. It has a lot of resemblance to anohana but i cant say them as it would spoil the show. Its a sad anime, with probably the saddest endings ever.

Specifically, episode 1 of Plastic Memories is very similar to Anohana, it'll make you cry, but almost every episode in Anohana will make you bawl (at least I bawled in every episodes).
