Oniichan wa Oshimai!

Onimai is magical sciency gender flip, while Hourou Musuko is about gender identity. Both feature an exploration of what it's like to be of the other gender in terms of physical inconveniences, societal views, and personal identity. Onimai is comedic and cutesy first and foremost, but deals primarily with a boy adjusting to life as a girl. Hourou Musuko is dramatic in nature, featuring main characters who struggle with fitting into society while also finding comfort in how they dress, act, and identify themselves as.
Both series have main characters that going trough gender change and struggles of understanding what is the meaning of belonging to a gender. Nitori is officially a trans girl and she had her own struggles in a similar fashion. Horou Musuko is more realistic and a bit darker than Onimai, due that Onimai being a comedy show. If you are into exploring the trans issues I’d recommend both of them.
