The ambience is strikingly similar despite the vast difference in setting. Uncertain, yet optimistic. Warm, yet detached. Light-hearted at times, heavy at others. Impeccable music and storytelling. Or maybe I'm just attracted to strong-willed girls and their trumpets. ;)

Both anime are about the lives of cute girls and involve music. Hibike! Euphonium is more of a slice-of-life anime while So Ra No Wo To is a bit more serious with military elements. Also, both protagonists play brass instruments.

"Sounds resonate, and reach out". Enchanted by the magical sound of Trumpet, both Kumiko and Katana each bring out an emotional and beautiful story as they struggle through hardships in life, powered at their core by their unwavering love for Brass instruments. With a strikingly similar setting yet so different, with stories so aligned yet also so apart, but both bringing home a wonderful yet tearful ending, watching "Sound of the Sky" is a strong recommendation for any Hibike-lover out there.

Hibike! Euphonium and So Ra No Wo To are shows that are heavily centered around music. Both shows try to balance an atmosphere that is both dark (whether through drama or the setting of the show) and light-hearted (which is usually accomplished in both shows through the interactions of the main characters with each other) and does so surprisingly well. They also both take a slice-of-life approach centering primarily around the main characters and their daily tasks. Artwork is pretty similar too in both shows, with the background setting colorfully illustrated and beautifully animated.
