Sword for Truth, despite coming out a few years earlier, feels like a cheap, budget version of the infinitely better Ninja Scroll.
So much of the style of Sword for Truth feels similar, and even a few scenes feel incredibly similar. Watching one definitely reminded me of the other.

Both Sword for truth 'n' Ninja Scroll are action-packed anime with lots of katanas, sex 'n' blood. Too often Sword for truth is bullied 'n' compared to Ninja scroll, as if this isn't a worthy anime as an absolute. Rather, if one watches with a revisionist eyes, this surely also is genius. Yeah, Sword for truth is inconsistent, but that is why it's good. Thee concept of "perfection" in anime is a vastly overrated (& incredibly overstated) rather, imperfection is what defines art. Thee Anime has forced me to reevaluate many of my established mental constructs, showing me thee noble "success" that can be found

This is possibly the easiest, & cheapest "recommendation" I could make. But if you were stupid enough to torture yourself by watching this gross filth like I was. Then you should watch Ninja Scroll to remind yourself of what a movie with effort put into it is supposed to look like. I'm not even a big fan of Ninja Scroll either, but I've gained a new-found appreciation for it after watching Sword for fucking Truth
