Similar mood throughout the stories, characters are forced into conflicts, the endings are also in the same themes of "stolen" love.
Simply put both are great action/adventure Romance and must watch.
While the storylines in both Chrno Crusade and Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann are nothing alike, the two follow a similar structure. The first half of both anime are mostly lighthearted, but the second half is darker, while retaining some comedy. Some of the characters act similarly (especially Rosette and Yoko), and the vibe between the two are similar as well. Chrno Crusade might lack mechs and might be less over the top compared to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but it is still worth a watch.
