Both shows have a group of cute girls doing mundane things, yet at the same time they both deal with personal hardships and undergo character development. They both have a sensei mentor that helps them. They're both irresistibly cute.
Both shows are about personal growth. They're not particularly plot heavy, yet have a continuous narrative that shows how much the characters have changed.
