Both feature vampires (though Blood Lad shows other creatures too. In different ways, the vamp's life is sort of ruled by a human (though, Blood Lad is in a romantic sort of way).
The shows carry the same dark tones, violent and bloody with some humor. They also share seiyuus (Yuki Kaji, Takuma Terashima, & Ryohei Kimura).
