Both are sports anime about an underdog team in a lesser-known sport with an MC that had previously been an ace on an old team. Both show high-speed skill development in MC based on previous prodigy status that feels legitimate rather than forced in an underdog team. Both shows have a theme of growing yourself to grow the team, but just one player can't win for you. Both teams have previous national winners on them but retain underdog status by being from a small school with newbie players mixed in so the upward climb feels both realistic and doable.
Shakunetsu Kabbadi does a better job
