There is a fair bit of difference in the character connections but both do educate you quite a bit on fishing.
Despite both being cute in general, Slow Loop is more 'innocent' per se if that makes any sense but can get a little serious too compared to.

Both are slice of life anime that focuses on fishing. Both have female MCs, though the reason for starting fishing is different.
both are laid back anime centered around girls fishing one only fly fishing and the fishing mainly at he breakwater.

Both shows are about cute girls doing fishing and cooking activities. They're relaxing and fun to watch, if you like one of them, you should watch the other one!
Cute girls, fishing, and food, that's what both shows are about. The difference is that in Houkago Teibou Nisshi, the girls do fishing as a school club activity, while in Slow Loop, they do fishing as hobby outside of school.

These series entertains the audiences through the tutorial of fishing. It also narrates how the caught fishes can be prepared into food. And the characters, are mostly female making it to be a CGDCT anime.

Both are CGDCT show with fishing as the main theme and somewhat informative about their main theme (particularly about fishing and how to cook their catch)
Both MCs starts with no fishing skill and slowly learn from their friends.

Two wonderful animes related to fishing.
Houkago Teibou Nisshi shows us different types of fishing while the Breakwater Club girls introduce newcomer Hina to her new hobby. In Slow Loop it's only fly fishing, but in many different locations, and Hiyori, who learned it from her late father, now shares it with her new sister Koharu.
CGDCT with Fishing as the focus.
Both shows are relatively informative as well.
Both MCs starts with not knowing much about fishing and slowly learn from their friends.
