Themes that stood out to me in "My Roommate is a Cat" were regret over the relationships with family members lost, and how to make new relationships to overcome that regret.
"Deaimon" has a similar theme, in that a character is often brooding over the loss of a relationship and is being nearly prodded and dragged into new relationships, not to forget the old relationship, but to help heal the wounds.
"My Roommate is a Cat" happened to use a pet as the new relationship and portal to more new relationships, while "Deiamon" has a fully human cast.
