Similar insofar as:
both MC are taken into a new fantasy world
both have a passion (books / mechas)
both develop their passion into a way of life
They have a very different dynamic though - Knight's & Magic is very much a mecha fighting anime with a nerd in the middle. It's fun thought and I liked both hence this recommendation :P
both have adult professional MC's isekai (one a computer programmer the other a librarian ) by reincarnation that are placed in the bodies of children. both MC are driven by their passion one mecha the other books. both are fairly laid back anime.
differences one was isekai as a noble the other a peasant. K&M is far more action while Bookworm is a more slice of life but with some dark undertone
Both MCs are an adult before they get reincarnated into a child's body while keeping their memory from their previous life. Both MCs introduce technology that is practically unheard of in the other world at a very young age.
There is some difference between Ascendance of Bookworm and Knight's & Magic. Even though both are isekai, both are very different kinds of isekai. Bookworm leans towards Slice of Life while Knight's & Magic leans towards actions and combat.
