the amount of politics in these 2 anime is simmilar as in the poweplay between the different nations.
gate is about a nation trying to civilize a different world as in teaching and integrating modernday values into an seemingly uncivilized world, and slime is about a creature starting his nation in a similar world to be honest but we get more content about the relations between the different species in slime.
