Similar themes of loneliness, isolation and escapism. Evangelion is also quite heavily inspired by Ultra series and tokusatsu in general. Gridman's directorial style is also quite reminiscent of Anno's in a lot of situations.

Both anime have giant monsters. Evangelion fighting angels whereas Gridman fights kaiju.

Evangelion's impact is written all over SSSS.Gridman. Yet another mecha-driven narrative which underlying message is to reject escapism. Very similar tone can be found in both. Trigger's final message about the show is simply: "Take Care of Yourself", which is the title of the last episode of Evangelion.

Besides the references to Eva, I honestly found a lot of thematic links between the two. Both are about characters running away from their problems rather than facing them, people who avoid the awkwardness of human connection as much as possible and share the message that even if it is awkward/hard/whatever else human interaction is it’s worth it.
