If you liked Belle, you'll love Anthem of the Heart. Both main characters suffer bad blows to their self-esteem after a childhood trauma, (while Suzu just can't sing anymore without making herself sick, Jun's lost the ability to talk at all) but overcome that with the help of some good friends and the healing power of music. Sounds cheesy, I know, but it was super moving.

In both movies, the heroine struggles to express herself and connect with others after a traumatic event (losing her mother in Belle; feeling responsible for her parents’ divorce in Anthem of the Heart). Music plays a role in helping the heroine grow and finally express their true feelings to others.
