Sigh...
Even though one is magic based and the other is mech based, both have quiet/blunt, genius level main characters who can pretty much make no mistakes. Why they have so much knowledge or why they are so proficient compared to everyone else doesn't matter.

Both have:
- Super intelligent MCs who win battles using science (although Mahouka is "magical-science").
- Exposition of the scientific principles used by the MCs to win their battles.
- MCs who are super rational and calm even in the most intense fights, able to lead and help their teammates to victory
- MCs who appear cold on the surface, but have a soft side (able to care for their friends).
- MCs who fight against overconfident opponents, only to make them gawk in disbelief upon defeat.
