Both shows are about people with magic in the modern world, those magic users fight against ayakashi/demons but often they are seen fighting against each other. Male MCs are pretty powerful but not a lot of people are aware of that. In both shows, the family/bloodline you are from decides how powerful you will be (almost every time), but the male MCs aren't affected by it and got/get strong in their own way.

Both are urban fantasies focusing on families with the ability to use magic. They both have 3 main characters- a boy and a girl of equal importance and a secondary male lead. The two main characters in both shows are cousins who have a crush on each other, though Natsume and Harutora get along far better than Kazuma and Ayano do and are far more balanced in power (i.e. they're both around Kazuma's level). In both cases, the boy is treated as an outcast in the family while the girl is the future heir. However, personality-wise, Natsume and Ayano could not be more different- Ayano
