Runaway. TnK and Princess Mononoke both feature a runaway who ends up meaning a girl of some quality in supernatural respect, whether it be due to a relationship or special power.
The two pairs end up trying to make do with one another in both movies too, though Princess Mononoke takes into consideration all parties in the story. Whereas TnK is just teenagers doing dumb things but with one another, they can improve themselves for the better.
Both highly acclaimed movies though I would say Princess Mononoke tries (and succeeds) at being more sophisticated. If nothing else TnK is for the visuals.
