Both anime use music and insert songs to evict emotion as well as excellent monologues and dialogues between characters to create complex character relationships and bonds. Both shows have a love triangle(s), broken hearts, new discoveries and reaching for the future.
This anime is basically like Honey and Clover with classical music. Where as H&C was based in university and centres on art, Shigatsu is set in middle school and based around classical music. There's similar melodrama themes, and excellent character development in both, as well as such beautiful art and music! Both animes also have such wonderful scripts, and will make a mark in your heart and mind. If you enjoyed one, you'll definitely enjoy the other :) Oh and both will hit you right in the feels, so prepare some tissues :')
