Both shows are pretty similar. They are action packed in Code Geass the Mechas are the Titan Shifters and have their unique powers. Both of them are about racism, hypocrisy, a MC with a plan to change the world to the better and Reiner has a lot of characteristic to Suzaku such as both of them want to die, but they can't make up their mind. They oppose the MC and both of them suffer throughout the show.
Gabi is as annoying and racist as Nina. There tons of waifus and very well written and complex characters with theme exploration.

While you’re waiting for The Final Season Part 2, I’d recommend watching Code Geass. It’s very similar, as it features a large-scale war (especially in season two), and a complex and interesting protagonist.
In both anime, the main character has a distinct personality from most of the anime, and what I like about both anime is that their story does not revolve around the main character only, but there is a whole world inside the story with its details

They both touch ethical, political and philosophical subjects. Their main character could also be considered an antagonist, though fighting for moral reasons. Be ready for a lot of narrative turns.
