Both series takes place at a school life setting with a lighthearted mood. The main female protagonist in both series are also talented but has a strange personality with the main male protagonist.
Both series' main female protagonist are also considered child prodigies but lacks common social skills. It is thanks to the main male protagonist that they discover more about the world.
Both series also has a love triangle as well as other intertwined arcs.
Both series contains comedy, drama, and romance.
So if you liked Tonari, there's a 95.7250% chance you'll like Sakurosou. It's got the same charachter build where there's the quirky, over-enthusiastic, nerdy, shy etc and they all come together in one big group of friends making everyday different and unusual. Then there's your dose of cute relationships with a side of rivalry and love triangles to make things more interesting and comedic.
Both different plots, but pretty similar.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo are both romance animes. Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo is very fun even though it has the clichéd love triangle where the guy doesn't even notice the other girl's feelings and stuff. Even though I don't care for love triangles, this anime was very fun to watch and the ending is just so perfect. Somehow I got a similar feeling from the animes. I can't really tell what it is but I really recommend Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo to those who have seen Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and the other way around.

*the female protagonist in sakurasou lacks common sense and living ability and depends on the male protagonist to take care of her whereas in tonari its the opposite, the male protagonist forcefully tries to become her friend
