Roles are reversed in terms of gender of characters.
TBHK/JSHK = Girl - human, and Boy - Ghost.
It's very very very good! I recommend to all!
Boy has dark past, mysterious, very likeable.
Girl is hilarious, absolutely hilarious, and extremely dark when it comes to the boy's past.
I really do recommend!
Both are set in school and feature boy and a girl as main characters, from which one of is a ghost bound to said school.
Both will give similar vibes despite one focusing more on romance and other on comedy.
Hanako-kin and Dusk Maiden are lovely ghost stories with a ton of heart. They really manage to get you in your feels about their main ghosts just when you least expect it.
It is in those moments that both of these series shine.
You may not see the similarities at first, but give each show a good 4 or 5 episodes and I am sure that you will see the same as me.

The basic premise is the same, just genderswapped. Dusk Maiden also is a lot more romance-focused, rather than comedic. In both series, however, you'll find a bold visual style and aesthetic.

In both the main character can see a ghost (in Hanako-un the ghost is a boy & in Tasogare the ghost is a girl). Also in both the main character listens to rumors of supernatural events and solves them.

Both revolve around the legends of a certain Japanese high school, with character that have the resolve of understanding those legends and solving some of the school mysteries. One of the ghosts from those legends is real and becomes a major character, guiding the characters through their quest.
Both shows have a trolly, school related ghost.
The school is split into a new and old building and the main story is based on several different smaller ghost stories.
They each have their own very interesting art styles and very comedic at times, but can suddenly get semi-serious instantly and then back to goofing and clowning around

Both focuses on school themed ghost-human relationship and how they unriddle mysteries on their own respective schools. Though one will center more on comedy and the other on romance.
It is so similar but yet so different. Jibakuu Shounen Hanako-kun is much more light hearted than Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, its similar because a group go 'investigate' rumors about ghost and try or solve them. If you like either one then you are sure to enjoy the other.
It has afterschool mystery elements and the MC being connected to a famous ghost of the school.
In both Anime, One of the MC is a ghost, with dark past.
Both stories' main plot is based on the school's "Paranormal Myths/legends"!
Main difference- TOXA mainly focuses on the Romantic development between two Mains and JSHK it exploits the comedy aspect of the story more.
