Wake Up, Girls!

Young girls working hard to become pro idols with the help of their producer/manager. The difference being idolm@ster starts with the girls as idols while WUG first shows us how the group was formed, and WUG seems to have a bit more drama. Both touch on the competitiveness of the idol industry.
Different from school idols like Love Live, IM@S and WUG are about real, professional idols and the competition in the entertainment industry. The girls in both series are determined, tough, hard-working and cute. Both agencies, 765 production and Green Leaves are tiny studios with little money and plain offices, and both of them have a strong and rich rival: 961 Production and I-1 club. The stage performance of IM@S is perfect while that of WUG is a bit rough. However the soundtrack of WUG is impressive, that's enough for an idol anime.
They are both about Idols in the business (not school idols).
WUG (Wake Up, Girls) is a more realistic take on the genre.

The similarities of the two anime, namely:
1. tells about a young idol starting from zero
2. tell some idols who work for an agency
3. there is friendship or friendship of idols in one group
4. There are almost the same problems, namely the estrangement of the main idols' friendship due to their many jobs which can finally be resolved by understanding each other
