*This is my first review and I hate when people drone on so this will hopefully be a concise summary of my thoughts on the show. There will be spoilers although nothing major just the fact that technically a review is a spoiler :P.
I'll go through the categories adding in also what I liked and disliked (note that I'm bias in favour of this anime because I like it.)
Story: This anime is praised for a brilliant concept, science vs magic with esp powers as the norm within the city of 80% students. You will hear that this concept is delivered poorly, I can't say that
...
because I think that the reason i love the concept is because this show delivers it so well.
Art: I'm not Picasso but it's nice
Sound: The tracks make the fights seem epic however I think that beyond that the music is just good enough the rest of the time.
Characters: These guys make the show, I understand that if you wanted to you could attribute them to roles like 'typical hero' and 'tsundere' ect, However that doesn't change that by the end of watching the anime you will have a favourite and people you like and people you don't care for and they will be unique to you. Season 1 is about the characters secretly and most of the time they are very real in terms of what they do and who they are.
Enjoyment: Enjoyment stems from the arc payoffs and social interactions.
My notes: I love this anime, I recommend it highly. The first arc only seems complicated don't worry. The world that gets painted from this anime as a whole is awesome and there will be times where it makes you feel on top of the world. Also if you're wondering whether or not this series gets better or worse as you progress it gets a lot better, season 2 is ranked 200 places higher for a reason but they are both very good.
Overall: Character driven fantasy story with a comprehensive world setting. There are also cute girls.
