As much as I wanted to like the premise it just failed to deliver what I believe it was going for, usually you would get a few hints here and there and figure out what might have happened, which is the fun part of medical dramas, but it just failed to keep a hold on that concept, you would get the mystery part, then Ameku has a Jimmy Neutron brain blast moment and she explaining everything by getting the gang together like it's some face reveal from Scooby Doo. To be fair it had it's moments like the museum dinosaur episode and..... the.... human combustion
...
episode "insert Fire Force intro here", but outside of that since I don't know about any other anime that's in this genre it was cute.
Ameku was good, other than her having to look like a child and acting like one adding the part where her sister treats her like one it was just unnecessary to me, they could have just made her a bit taller and go leave out the looking like a child part... but I don't get it, why even make that choice, cute = views I guess, other than that side characters were just there to play their role in the short stories and that's about it, touching on the side-kick Yu Takanashi, he was ok, didn't add much to anything, but he was present I guess. The detective guy was cool though.
The way they tried to implement superstitions and unexplained phenomenon were interesting, that direction would have made the show more watchable. Overall it's ok, nothing special, a cute watch, but if you're expecting something deep then it just doesn't satisfy the craving you would get from watching alternatives like House or The Good Doctor.

To cut it short, don't take this anime to seriously, not even the show takes itself seriously. It's funny, it's comfy, good animation and a nice cast of characters.
Mashle clearly runs on the fact that it's a parody of Harry Potter, with more than a handful of references to the popular movies. Mash is a super strong character with the brain size of a peanut outside of combat, the jokes are funny to a point of having a nice smile here and there, you're not gunna be laughing your ass off to this one so don't expect much, but it's a comfy Shonen anime. The
...
pacing is good and the plot is interesting enough to watch it through to the end, characters are also likeable and have their own little witty personalities to go along with their presence.
A final point to the plot, I found it interesting, a bit cheesy towards the end, but if you've watched Harry Potter you basically know the gist of it.

Would have been a 10/10 if it wasn't for Frederica coming in at season 2, otherwise amazing, season 1 is just so perfect and season 2's ending had me crying my eyes out.
Usually wouldn't write a review for a show I rate this high, but season 2 just didn't give that same intensity and pacing season 1 had, Frederica's character just felt out of place since she was introduced with her entire backstory being so dull, you can put her involvement on Shinei having to face his demon's and the burden he carries, but this all could have been done without the inclusion of a
...
loli character that's only purpose serves as being the comedy relief and "cute" center of season 2.
Also with Federica's story we didn't even get to see the revolution against the republic.... which again ruined season 2 for me more, I just don't understand why we had to go the cute loli route instead of building out the plot and feeling of season 1 more.

The entire premise of the show drew me in from the start, being someone with really bad social anxiety and having to work through that and grew better at talking and doing daily stuff better, this show really took a ride with me, shed a few tears, related to her struggles, but when I look outside of the "girl just wanting to fit in and make friends" it gets a bit stale, she is literally the most popular kid at school by default and the "friends" she makes kinda feel meaningless when you factor in that everyone is obsessed with a capital O with her,
...
they literally refer to her as goddess through the entire season 2 and treats her as such... it really to much for me.
Outside of Komi and Tadano, which relationship I find cute and consider him being the only true friend to her, everyone else just sucks, their over the top, annoying and don't even get me started on Najimi, her character is probably the worst and she's on the front line of the show ready to ruin it, not to bring in American politics (skip this part of you rather not read brainrot) to top off the cringe the dub just inserts American politics into her character it's so gross, like the narrator mentioning the gender-neutral bathroom, where in the original source material this isn't even brought up. The entire joke towards her gender being a mystery is suppost to be the joke of her character, because Tadano calls it a he and everyone else calls it a she so "haha she's a trap", but in the english version it's a they/them... like why? why push this just to satisfy a ideology, stay to the authors intentions for funkopop sake.
To sum it up, Komi can't communicate is cute, relatable and good for your heart when it comes to the 2 main character's relationship, but the rest of it is so exasperated to a point where I wanted to skip through everything, the side-characters all suck. Good animation though.

Really enjoyed the story and worldbuilding, how trauma and going through battles changed the MC from a frail yet scrappy person so a full war veteran really brought me closer to the character, also the pacing of him getting stronger felt good, and him having to face enemies that overshadow him in power was a nice touch not having him feel brokenly powerful.
Only complaint I have is him being the "player" and how the "system" worked felt a bit bleak and unexplained at times later on, at the start it felt better, but later in the season and especially season 2 where the entire "his
...
playing a video game" aspect just went missing for a long while, also him maxing out his necromancy the second he got it felt weird... like why not explain it more, why not have him face set backs because of the mana draining him, they did do it once, but never touched on it again... it just felt odd.
Also I understand having him face stronger bosses and it's like "wow, he overcame his limits", but man it was used over and over and felt a bit overused, I would rather just have him go in-between boss fights to "farm" experience, showing that his actually participating in the leveling system and not just have him go through bosses, also using the same items and not even indulging in the shop, buying stronger gear, or finding more loot instead of using the same 2 daggers the entire time.
I don't really wanna give it a 8, it's more a 7.5, I do still recommend watching it, it's a fun interesting anime.

Such a fun watch,
Just came from finishing "Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro" and wow this was a breath of fresh air from that garbage., There is so much "Uzaki wants to hang out" does right, from relatability towards characters to laughing my ass off at times. The teasing isn't overwhelming from Uzaki and her airhead-ness rubs off on you, ending season two you find it quirky and adorable.
Meeting each member of her family the further the anime went along was a treat, except for the brother, man his voice is bad. The dad is a sweetheart and the mom is so on brand with
...
her airhead-ness, you see where Uzaki gets it from, her obsessing over her ranchy love stories on tv and then trying to emulate that into her own life with Sakurai was some light hearted fun. The award for best side characters has to go to the coffee house owner and his daughter, those two cracked me up every time and I love just how overly invested they were even though the girl had a crush on Sakurai she still wanted to see Uzaki get with him, and with Sakurai's friend coming in the mix was just a cherry on top.
If you're looking for a more normal lighthearted love story and have quite a fun laugh as well while you're at it I highly recommend giving this one a try, especially as a break from trashy ones like Nagatoro, Dress up darling and others alike.
Side note: I'm so happy this had a college setting and not another generic high school one with overly cookie-cutter quirky characters.

2nd time watching it, since the show has been scrubbed from my memory and stored in the deepest darkest corner of my brain and I now know why, it's really tedious, in terms of visual the anime is wonderful, cute and very much echi (if you're into that), but other than the quality the story is repetitive and the episodes started blending into eachother, the same scene is played out over and over but with a small twist, Nagatoro bullies senpai, senpai goes on about how she's annoying in his head and then he does something that makes her blush or freak out, the end...
...
there are points where you get a little "oh their love is growing and their getting closer" but the more you watch the more you realize it's all the same.
To the characters, Nagatoro is a teasing annoying girl that tries to push senpai to stand up for himself a bit, but slowly falling more and more for him. Senpai is a pushover with a humiliation kink. Her friends... their just a bunch of bullies.
Conclusion, wonderful visuals, but sucky and repetitive characters.

With an fun and engaging story I found my self loving every character, from how sweet the 2 new girl's sister dynamic is, to how socially awkward the main guy is and how his love for his craft comes into jokes or the plot in such a cute way.
My issue with it, the main girl, she is the most cookie-cutter blond stereotype American girl. it's like they took every single popular blond that sits at the cool table from mid 2010's and pushed her into the mess that she is, listening to how she talks and how she acts was ear piercing, she was so
...
odd and out of place vs all the other characters, I know there's people like her that exist, but I would rather eat a barrel of dung covered lollipops than have the pleasure of sharing a conversation with her, her being "pretty" feels like the only selling point.

Dialog is obnoxious, annoying, especially the last villain of season 1, calling everyone sempai with that irritatingly squeaky voice just didn't make him intimidating at all to me. MC's falling head over heels for the main girl feels like the only reason why his even doing the fights, if she quit he would probably definitely follow her which is just a bore of a motivation for me. The rest of the cast is more normal, but lacks in interest, same as MC, the more fleshed out characters seem to be every other side character, like the girl in the wheelchair and even the bike guy
...
has more depth than the MC, and the amount of times he wants to quit just because he doesn't believe in himself is insane, again bringing back the feeling that his just a downer from beginning to end and lack any or slight amount of protagonist material in his personality.
The animation and little bit of the plot are the only take away from this one, sorry the characters are just so badly done and ruined it for me.

Starting off with a full on blood bath, personally this set up is fun to me, since you're dropped into the start of the action and already know what you're getting yourself into, we are introduced to our main band of criminals about to be sentenced to death to retrieve an elixir to eternal life for some fat rich lord, their reward? a pardon for their crimes. The timeframe for most of these criminals are quickly cut short for those that don't take the center stage, we are given a short backstory for most of them to have us sympathise with the characters before they
...
are brutally destroyed. We learn about our main 2 characters, Gabimaru and Sagiri, getting a quick summary of what they struggle with and where they come from.
I took Gabimaru's entire character as a metaphor to no matter how strong someone is on the outside, there's always something deeper hidden under the surface, this goes in deeper depths throughout the show, having both Gabimaru and Sagiri struggle and overcome their weakness or learning to live in unity with what they would believe as "weak". Found it interesting harnessing your weaknesses to further push your strengths, but wasn't anything new.
Tone of the story is set with a mystery aspect to it as we later find out that the island is only but a religious monstrosity to experiment and control Tao, the power set in all living beings. Thought the story could have gone a deeper path than having it just be one big evil baddie and rather have it focus more on the mysterious island and power and how their 2 religions molded into one on the island and with it's inhabitants all that time ago. Missed opportunity in my opinion.
Animation is really well done and if you want to enjoy a high quality anime, then I would highly recommend Hell's paradise, looking forward to what season 2 brings and with a lot more questions to be answered, I can't wait to see where it takes the story and characters
