You know what, episodes 4 and 5 were good again, maybe I was a bit early in my judgement, though at least looking at episode 3 all my criticism still holds true. I am just happy that the rest looks to be fine, and I hope that you are still going to be able to enjoy this season, not because I am offended by the idea of someone not enjoying a piece of media I love, but solely because I want you to be able to further appreciate Yuru Camp. Have a good one and watch episode 4 and 5, their production is way better.
I don't think that they used more CGI in season 3 than before, whether the models are worse or not doesn't really matter with this argument, because they were more than noticeable even in the first two seasons. I do agree that production values have gone down, but that has less to do with the use of CGI but more so with backgrounds. The show from the very first season has always heavily relied on using photography as reference image or even just as a background in an edited form. This for me wasn't a problem before, because the integration was both consistent and just overall pretty good. Especially looking at episode 3, outdoor scenes that are based on real world locations are seemingly snapped together with what looks to me like poorly rendered stock footage. The difference in resolution and the fact that rim-lighting is present on a lot of these images is just overall pretty bad. It feels very cheap and for me at least takes away from the more atmospheric elements. To be fair, I was always more interested in the cultural and atmospheric side of the show, then all the camping stuff, so I have a bit of a harsher perspective here, but I really do think that this drop in quality diminishes a lot of the show's sense of place. Yuru Camp for 2 seasons has built up an overall comedic but still heavily grounded setting, both in camping but also in culture and geography, this just feels like a spit in the face to everything the show did, to give it its unique atmosphere. I just hope the last two episodes were the outlier, not the rule
