After having seen a few sports anime such as "Free!" I never felt it was a genre that I could love. Somehow I ended up giving "Haikyuu!" a chance and I'm glad I did. For the positives, the production value is great. A lot of the volleyball moves are overly dramatized (GREAT ANIMATION) but it just makes the anime feel more exciting. The music on top of these scenes make the anime stand out even more. They really brought the manga to life and for a show like this, I definitely prefer watching it than reading it.
I feel that the characters
...
help the show's pacing. They're funny with their antics and because this is a sports anime, the focus is a lot on the characters and their relationships and how they react to what is happening rather than the story.
The story is very simple and I feel there's not much leeway with this genre so having great characters is a must. There has been some character development which is always a plus.
The predictable storyline may be the only flaw of this anime, but even then, I was hooked on this show from the first episode. This anime would be great start for those who never watch this genre. It would make you want to play volleyball, as well.

It's a bit difficult to say why this anime is so good and why it has a lot of potential. It has every single cliche you can think of--You will predict every single event that this anime will present. There are no plot twists. BUT what makes it different from the rest is that it has heart. An emotional touch.
That and it is paired up with an amazing studio, Studio Bones. I actually think is is some of their best work, too. They understood how to make this show come alive through their beautiful animation and perfect OST. I
...
actually read the manga before the anime premiered and I wasn't too impressed by it. I only started loving it after EP 5 of the anime.
Now I really miss this show and I'm holding back everything in order not to continue in the manga. I believe BONES could do a better job showing off the best two(?) arcs coming up according to fans.
Whether this show lives up to be the next big thing, I have yet to see that but for now, this was my favorite anime this spring and I'll DEFINITELY tune in when s2 comes out. I have hopes for this one and if this season didn't convince people that it's anything special, I hope it'll convince everyone next season.

Some say that this anime is an intro into anime but I've seen MANY shows and this is my favorite anime for many reasons. I had stopped watching anime for a while and when I tried to get back into it with hyped up series like SAO, I just wasn't engaged anymore. Part of the reason was that I thought I had seen everything anime had to offer and there just wasn't anything left to surprise me. The stories and characters just felt rehashed.
And then, Attack on Titan comes out. What this show succeeds in is in its production. The
...
team that worked on this show really understood what made the story strong and its tone. As a result, I was hooked from the first episode. I was in awe at how anime had come so far in their animation and how the scenes were now crisp, clean and fast. The opening theme gets you hyped. The action scenes are still the best I've seen in anime and still hold up after I've watched some newer anime from 2015. The OST takes the anime to the next level because it's so dramatic and perfectly placed within the show. As much as I loved the story with its plot twists, I dropped the manga since I loved the production value of the anime much more and would rather wait for season 2.
I would compare this anime to the movie, Mad Max. They're not in anyway similar but both have this energy and tension when you watch them.
This is an anime for people that don't even watch anime. I've recommended it to many of my friends and all of them loved it. You should at least get to episode 5. If you still don't enjoy it at that point, then it definitely isn't for you.

Charlotte is an anime with many ideas and concepts but no clear direction or execution which left me a bit disappointed. It definitely would've benefited from at least 10 more episodes and a clearer direction. The end result was just a bunch of plot holes and no character depth . I could see where the author and production team was trying to go with it but in the parts that the audience needed to be sad, I just couldn't care less. On top of that, the grand reveal wasn't really as dramatic or surprising as it should've been.
That being said, it's
...
an easy watch because super powers are always fun to see in my opinion (when are they not?!) and the pacing is very fast. While this can be a good thing, it wasn't here. I needed this anime to slow down in various spots and take the humor out a bit.
This anime just didn't know what it wanted to be. I really wish it could have been handled better since I liked the ideas but that was about it. Maybe this is a show for people that don't have anything better to watch since it was not boring but it's definitely not a memorable one.

I get bored with anime quite quickly nowadays but I found this show surprisingly fun and well paced. To start with the good things, the character design is gorgeous along with the animation. There aren't that many varied tracks for this anime but the opening themes are amazing. I don't think I ever skipped them as I was marathon-ing this series.
For the bad part, there isn't that much depth in the story and character growth is almost non existent. Because of that, the story is quite predictable and there aren't that many plot twists or tension. However, I
...
still liked the characters a lot and they had their moments, especially in the second season.
Overall, I just wanted something entertaining and this anime was it! It was such an easy watch and now that I've seen all of it, I kind of miss it. It's not ground breaking by any means, but it was fun in its own way and I'll be looking forward to season 3 if it happens!
