Pandora Hearts Review ♥
Plot :: There is something really special about this. Although the plot includes elements and themes from other works, like Alice In Wonderland, it also has it's own originality added into the mix that gives it a spark! Many elements are deprived from the Victorian era, gothic, and a dark fantasy feel. I truly enjoyed the story presented in Pandora Hearts. However, a lot of details aren't given away to you upfront and sometimes you will become utterly confused about certain situations. There are many plot twists. But I love how it keeps you guessing. The story feels like it was really
...
well thought out. The plot twists don't feel forced or rushed. The only negatives I have with it is the pacing can be a bit slow and explanations are usually vague, only to be explained much later. Its hard to explain much about the plot since it becomes more complicated as you travel further. You would need to find out for yourself. Overall, I absolutely love the plot!! I give it a score of 9/10 {Great!}
*Note* The story doesn't end at episode 22. The Manga series is ongoing, so if you want to find out what happens next, I would suggest reading the manga! :] The ending of the Anime doesn't give a clear solution and isn't complete. The rest of the story is covered in the Manga and it reviles the mysteries in a creative matter!
Art :: For the most part, I think the artwork and style is beautiful. I love the character designs and drawing style used. As for animation, it certainly wasn't the most smooth or vivid. It appeared to have an old fashioned sort of look, which suits the anime's theme well. At times the animation is a bit choppy and inconsistent, but I wouldn't say it's awful. At times the animation improves while other times it dips in quality. For some this may be bothersome, but I found I didn't have much of an issue with it. I give art an animation a score of 7/10 {Good}
Sound :: The music consists of instrumentals that remind me of a theater presentation. The opening and ending themes are beautiful and I like many of the background music in the show. At times though, music can be a bit too loud and drowned out voices. However, this doesn't happen to often, but I noticed it. Pandora Hearts has a nice soundtrack. (: For voice acting, I would say is pretty good!! Sometimes the quality of the recordings can dip as well, but overall I don't have much complaints about sound! ^-^ The Anime is only done with Japanese dubs, so their is no English dubs available, just English subs. I give music and sound a score of 7/10 {Good}
Characters :: I think the characters have something really special. They aren't completely generic or overly cliched. They present interesting personalities. I found myself enjoying many of the characters in the story. I give characters a score of 8/10 {Very Good!}
Overall Enjoyment :: All in All, I love this Anime. I think the true heart of this series lies within the captivating story and variety of characters, these are the strongest points within Pandora Hearts and what I fell in love with. This is why PH has become a favorite Anime of mine. I would recommend reading the Manga series as well. The story gets better and the twists are carried out beautifully. The artwork is also stunning!!

.:: Story ::.
The story in Highschool of the Dead is pretty straightforward and obvious. It revolves around a world that's been quickly corrupted by zombies. A group of teenagers band together to escape the school and survive the apocalypse. The story was for the most part, good, but I wouldn't say it was the greatest. The first few episodes were interesting, but things start straying away the further you travel into the series. Overall, I give the plot a score of 6/10 {Fair}
.:: Artwork ::.
I really love the character designs and art styles used in HSOTD. The animation is
...
really good. It's vivid in color and detailed. Also the fighting scenes are done in a creative matter, so it adds it's own personal flair that sets it apart from other shows that have zombies. for artwork I give it a 9/10 {Great!}
.:: Sound ::.
Both the opening and ending themes are very good. I found myself singing a long to them :]. The background music is also nice, it's not too distracting or overused and it fits the mood, as well as well timed sound effects. I watched both sub & dubbed versions (I'm not picky about dubs), I find both versions to have good voice acting. I think the English dubbed voices actually suited the characters more then the Japanese dubs, but I like both. I have nothing to complain about. I give sound & music a score of 9/10 {Great!}
.:: Characters ::.
There's a couple of interesting characters introduced in High School of the Dead, but for the most part there isn't much character development throughout the series. I love many of the characters, although many of the girls are bitchy, I give them props for having some spunk! That's what I love about them. I give this a score of 6/10 {Fair}
.:: Enjoyment ::.
I really enjoyed watching the series. However, this Anime contains a lot of fanservice moments. There is a lot of boobs bouncing and pantyshots. Since I'm a girl myself, honestly fanservice never really bothered me. But in HSOTD it can get pretty distracting since they put heavy empthasis on this. It shows up A LOT. At times it can be a real mood killer. I wouldn't have minded much I'd they didn't give us an overload. In a way, large boobs jiggling and skirts flying up during fights gives off a realistic feel.
.:: Overall ::.
My overall score for this Anime is 7/10 {Good}

First off I would like to mention, I have watched the entire series and have come back to finish and give a complete review of Guilty Crown. Although this Anime series has many faults, I wouldn't say that it's complete garbage like so many people are making it out to be. I actually found Guilty Crown to be a beautiful piece of work despite it's faults. ♥
Story :: The plot of Guilty Crown is a weaker element of the series. In the beginning it starts of strong, but the further it goes the more it lingers and becomes hazy. However, I did really love the
...
story, I think the issue comes with how it's presented and exicuted. A lot of details are left out and never explained all that well leaving many plot wholes and inconsistencies. I wish that Guilty Crown went more in depth in the story so we could get a better understanding. Many viewers will point out similarities with other series. Guilty Crown contains many cliche and inspirations from other series. But to be honest, this never bothered me much. Although I did notice similar ideas, I found more differences. Overall I enjoyed the story, but I think it could of used many improvements! It was pretty good, but not great. I give plot a score of 6 {Fair}
Art :: This a very strong point in the series. The animation and artwork is stunning! I could tell that the creators put a lot of thought into character designs and overall artwork. The animation is smooth and the color is vivid, giving it great detail. The battle scenes ate done beautifully and the quality never strays. I love the art style! Probably one the best animation I've seen in Anime. (: For Art, I give Guilty Crown a score of 8 {Very Good}
Sound :: The music and sound is another strong point along with the animation. The songs from the opening & ending themes warmed my heart. The lyrics are beautiful & the music is captivating. Inori's songs give Guilty Crown a nice touch. The background music is also nice. Many fit nicely and create the mood. Overall, Guilty Crown has a great soundtrack! I give it a score of 9 {Great!}
Characters :: Although the series presents many interesting characters with a variety of personalities, this is were things get sloppy. I felt that the characters never fully developed throughout the series. There are some moments of change, but it becomes inconsistent. I felt like I couldn't fully feel or connect with many of the characters, not to say that I felt nothing. Something about Inori's unconditional love for Shu, Shu being able to see Inori as true person instead of just an empty shell, and Gai's weaknesses under his facade & strong desire to be with Mana. It moved me and touched my heart. Guilty Crown shows glimpses of the deep desires and depth within the characters, which gives off an interesting vibe & energy. I found the connection between the main characters to spark my imagination. Many will say that they have no true meaningful connection, but I feel that they do, even when it's not expressed through words. Although I liked many of the characters, the development needed some work. A few characters where rememberable, while others are easily forgotten. I give characters a score of 6 {Fair}
Enjoyment :: All in All, I really enjoyed this Anime! I found it captivating and a nice series overall. However, it did suffer from minor cliche elements, plot holes, inconsiticies, and lack of total character development. But that doesn't automatically make me hate it. I found beauty in the story & characters despite there faults, nothings perfect! It gave me inspiration and sparked my imagination. I give Guilty Crown a rating of 8 {Very Good}
My overall score for the series is a 7 {Good}
