this is more of a comparison than a review, as i couldnt say all that i needed to in the recommendations. i apologize, but it's still kinda like a review!

the story is generic, as you can find many more animes with similar plots and storylines. however, the way it's told is what makes it stand out or not. i've made recommendations for this anime, comparing them to sukitte ii na yo and tonari no kaibutsu-kun as i saw many parallel and contrasting features between KNT and those two animes.

in terms of animation design, it reflected animation seen in sukitte and tonari. although in general it ... was more similar to the former, but had more comical aspects to it.

the plot of KNT more likely resembled that of tonari because it was a lot more lighthearted and funny in comparison to sukitte. the plot in all three animes however, follow a similar storyline. none of the male and female leads get their romantic relationship rolling until towards the end. all three animes had female leads confused and questioning their feelings toward the male leads.

the animes had similar character set ups. outcast females that gain friends through being open with the male leads. all females had a small group of girlfriends with the addition of close male friends from the male side.

overall, i find these animes enjoyable to watch, despite potential repetitive aspects. KNT is a good mix of both sukitte and tonari, i would say its more funny than either of them though.

what strikes me as different about this anime though, is that there's a second season. i havent watched it yet but plan on doing so soon. i think a second season will allow for the romantic relationship to develop further than these typical animes. with sukitte and tonari, the series ends just has the leads are confronting their feelings. so im interested to see how far KNT will take that.

by far one of the best animes i've watched. i was never interested in fishing, yet this completely caught my attention. if i were to describe the anime in one word: quirky.

the plot and story were original. the show did a good job of maintaining a nice air of mystery throughout, as in you dont see what the bulk of the plot is until later on. however, at the same time it was very enjoyable to watch and very warmhearted. so many humorous moments in the show, i honestly couldnt help but smile or laugh at various points.

the artwork and animation were superb. its so ... colorful that you think it's an overall happy show, and while it is, it's clear later on that there's a slightly darker side to the story.

the characters were great. you can see how each on progress until they become who they are in the end. i normally find very loud childish sounding characters annoying (ie the maid and whatnot from black butler, couldnt even watch more than 5 episodes because of that), but haru's voice acting was very well done!

the one thing that i greatly appreciate from this anime, was the fact that the ending provided good closure. i've noticed in many animes that the ending is somewhat half-assed, which is definitely not the case here. with the way it ended, im hoping for another season.

overall i would rate this a 10/10 and recommend it to anyone. i cant express how well done this anime was.

i dont normally write reviews, but i feel like this is a very underrated anime. this anime is completely unique in all aspects to most that i've watched. the way it's structured, and how it balances elements of the supernatural with romance and comedy was perfect, it also had action for those looking for that. it seems kinda silly in the beginning, but the show gets more sad and tragic as it progresses. its overall theme is actually quite sad. the anime is somewhat complex, but not overly so.

in terms of animation, it's fairly new looking. as in it has sharp lines and isnt so ... fuzzy looking, for those looking for an nicely animated anime, as i so often am.

now, i mostly watch english dubs, which were pretty good for the anime. however, i cant comment on the subs.. kanba took some time getting used to though. and music (theme, endings, etc) were quite enjoyable, music is something that i pay a lot of attention to when watching animes.

i must admit that i came across this anime on more than one occasion, but dismissed it due to how silly it sounded. i recently caved and flew through the show within days.

definitely a recommendation for anyone looking for a new anime.

this is an extremely underrated show. the plot is somewhat predictable, but still tolerable. the voice actors and actresses really fit the characters, and the fight scenes were good. not too much gore, but just enough to keep it interesting. my absolute favorite thing about this anime is the soundtrack, it's one of the best and appropriately timed that i've ever seen in an anime. definitely rewatchable.

a few episodes in the way ayumi was and how she sounded just really irked me, everything seem overexaggerated. like i get that that's how she's supposed to be because she's a fire magic user, but it didnt alleviate any of the dislike i felt for her. the plot is okay, its easy to follow. i watch it on and off when i've nothing else to watch, the voice actor of kazuma keeps me coming back really. i'd recommend it as something to fill the time.

this is honestly one of the greatest modern animes i've seen in a really long time. judge me all you want, but hulu helped me discover it. the storyline could use a little bit of work, i got lost a lot and had to rely on the internet to clear a few things up. but it is a good story, a bit unique from the ones im used to watching. the animation of it is on point, at least for my tastes. i love this style of animation and that's ultimately what drew me in to watching it. i think the voice actors are superb ... for this show, i've heard a lot of things about brina's voice, and i must say, i really agree with it all. i first heard her when she played ciel in black butler, i tried getting into the anime itself but it was a no go. however, with all the raving recommendations for it, i might give it another go. but anyways, i've heard a lot of scruff about english dub vs japanese dub, and i get where they're coming from. some voices sound unnatural or just plain unappealing. certainly not the case for the nabari no ou cast. im a bit sad that the series is so short lived and a bit underrated, seems to be the case for a lot of good animes. i've rewatched it a few times, and it's still just as good if not better than the previous time. highly recommended.
