This anime is nothing but stupid...
I like the art and the animation, but the story is just nonsense.
This is more of a sci-fi anime than a romcom. Have you ever met someone who could forget their glasses several days in a row?
If they do it means they can survive a day without them and without too much discomfort. Because if you need your glasses to see, I don't know how you can even leave your house without realizing that you're missing something.
The story is quite wholesome, as most romcoms these days, but nothing that would make me want to see a second season of this
...
show.
And then we have our MC, who's just a little child (of course he is, the story takes place in middle school environment), but how do you want people to relate to such a character?
I don't feel any sympathy for him, I'm used to oblivious characters but he is on an even higher level than anything I've ever seen...
Short review here but I needed to share my thoughts, there is nothing I can relate to in this anime, and therefore no reason for me to enjoy it. When you write a story, you need to give the reader or viewer something they would like to, but can't live in their life.
Why would I want to be a dumb*** middle school boy in love with an even more dumb*** girl, incapable of simply put her glasses on win the morning?
So far I have watched 10 episodes out of thirteen, and I plan on watching the last three so I don't leave this show on dropped, but I wish I had never started watching it.

How can a show with a rate of 7.48, be so bad???
It started great at first, I thought I had found another great show about cars apart from Initial D, but it turns out to be just another disappointment...
I am only 10 episodes in and I already feel bored: every race feels the same as they always take place on the same road and nothing special really happens.
Let's talk about that spot, which is just a highway, no particularly dangerous corner or anything, just a straight line (more or less).
This is kind of the opposite of Initial D, where you could defeat any car as
...
long as you had skills, but here you only need the fastest car if you want to win, nothing else.
Initial D was so great to watch, because the pilots had to think about their races and how to win them, even if it was a bit too much sometimes.
In Wangan Midnight, the pilots don't have to do much to win: just press the gas and shift gears.
Oh and because they race on a highway, they have to avoid the other cars driving but that's all.
You're never going to get thrilling races in this show...
Plus, I don't know why but they decided to give this story a mystic side, with a car that choses its driver but that completely kills the vibe...
So let's recap why this show sucks real quick:
- mystic side
- racing on a straight road
- never changing the racing spot
There are other flaws to this show but I didn't feel like going into to much detail so here it is.
If you want to watch a good racing show, you should watch Capeta, it is far better than this! It is even better than Initial D to be honest
I don't feel like watching this till the end, because I know I'll get even more disappointed, so why bother?
They even could've stopped it after the tenth episode!

What I liked about this show? The art style and... nothing else.
Everything else in this show is crap!
The animation is... average most of the time, and when it's not it's just bad.
The story has some potential: a boy without any magical ability decides to fight against his fate and longs to become the strongest in a world driven by magic. I really like the idea and this can be quite interesting if well-written, but unfortunately it quickly gets boring. As I'm writing this review, I am 50 episodes in and I still don't know how in hell I'm going to have the strength to watch
...
all the 170 episodes. One of the reasons why it feels boring, is the pacing, as it's so inconsistent. I'd say that out of 10 episodes, only 2 to 5 are enjoyable.
This show is just another bad shônen cliché, nothing more, nothing less. And this seems to be acknowledged by most of its community, people like it because it is a bad shônen. This kind of show is too much for me.
And not only is this a bad shônen, but the characters are so dull. I can't relate to any of them. And I can't like a show if I don't feel any sympathy or admiration for at least one of the main characters, unless it has really good plot or animation.
I only like a few things in this show: the art style/character design, some of the openings, and Charmy (whom I like more in her "true" form than her "cartoony" one), that's all, far from enough to enjoy 170 freaking episodes!
So to summarize it all, this is way too long of a boring show for me to like it or recommend it. I am still thinking about finishing it because I am sick of dropping so many shows, and some say that the final plot twist is worth watching.
I might update this review in the future, as I get closer to the end.

I feel so sorry for saying this but Trigun is yet another old classic that didn't live up to my expectation...
It isn't bad, objectively, as we have a solid story, with good character development, and good animation as well. But the pacing, oh my, it just felt horrible. I couldn't tell where they went wrong, but I can tell they did for sure!
The real story only starts once you've watched about half of the show, in order for you to know the characters better I suppose, but I hate watching a show without any direction to follow so it felt kinda boring. Then the story
...
kicked in and damn I loved it! But then again I just felt bored, and I don't know why.
I mean, the story was pretty interesting and I just wanted to know more, but at the same time, my wanting to continue watching diminished with each episode.
Another reason for that boringness may be that I couldn't relate to Vash, he's cool most of time, but sometimes, when he feels depressed, I just feel like he's overreacting, although he has all the right to be depressed. I really got mixed feelings with this show... Interesting and boring at the same time, MC both relatable and unrelatable at the same time as well...
And another thing that I hated was that I was left with some unanswered questions at the end, and this always get under my skin...
What exactly are plants?
How were they created?
What are those huge fudging bulbs in some cities? (although I may already have an idea)
I'm planning on watching Trigun Stampede after this, maybe I'll get some answers, but I would've like to get them all in the original show.
I'm just writing this review cause I felt like I had to justify giving such a low score to this classic, but I still hope it will help some people decide if they wanna watch it or not

I am writing this review while watching the third episode. that's to say how boring it is...
I loved the first two seasons of the show, but then the French voice actors changed, as well as the character designs throughout the other seasons.
I usually watch anime with the original voices but Initial D is one of those old shows with great French voices (in the first seasons at least) and I thought about going back to the Japanese version but it seems that they also changed the voices at some point so I kept with the French version.
But how can you appreciate a show when
...
the characters consistently change face and voice???
One thing that got under my skin was the fact that some stories never got a real ending, like Kouichirou and Mako's relationship for example. The reason why nothing happened between them is so stupid...
I thought Takumi would eventually get back with Natsuki at some point, but then he met Mika and that's great, but in the end we don't really know if they're still together or not. None of these relationships brought anything to the plot in my opinion so I don't see the point in them.
I was really hoping to get a new race between Keisuke and Takumi as well.
Let's talk about the pacing now, 4 episodes for only one race? Really??
The fourth, fifth and sixth seasons have 27 minute long episodes and I could definitely tell that they were longer than regular episodes, and they even felt like 35 or even 40 minute episodes sometimes. As I reached the end of the show, the races only felt longer and slower than ever, I think I could have easily skipped some episodes without really missing much from the story.
Coming back to this last race and "season": we all know that Takumi is one of the greatest at analysing and reproducing his opponents' driving techniques, but god knows why, it took him 2 whole episodes to finally start doing it with Shinji...
Plus, Shinji is so despicable. While Takumi has always been so humble, Shinji is just so arrogant, especially when he's got a wheel in his hands. I am so glad that Takumi won, he needed to learn a lesson!
As I am writing while watching, I just heard Ryousuke saying that Takumi's motor can take up to 10 000 RPM, while his father told him that he could go up to 11 0000 when it just go installed. It's no big deal, but again this shows some inconsistency...
I'm happy to say that I finally finished watching this show, but not so happy to say that it is far from being as good as it was in the beginning. The animation is better for sure, but everything else is far behind...

Story: nothing extraordinary here, this is just about a boy who's been bullied his whole life because of his physical appearance before getting the chance to get a perfect body and a pretty face, and suddenly be loved by everyone thanks to that new appearance.
I really liked this show, so much that I binged it in one night, and I am already eager to get a second season!
I won't say it's a masterpiece or even a piece of art, but I really enjoyed watching it and I don't really see what's to hate about this show.
It has good animation, interesting characters (some more than
...
others), and the story isn't bad at all.
As I am writing this review, Oemojisangjuui / Lookism si scored at 7.65, it might go a little bit down with time but I'm pretty sure it will stay above 7. And usually, when a show gets a score higher than 7 on MAL, it's objectively a good show.
Now, it doesn't mean that everybody will love it or even like it, but most will. And some will still say it's a bad show and there's no problem with that, you can never please everyone.
So if you are hesitating about watching it, just watch the first episode and then decide if you want to continue or not!
(There are two pretty minor spoilers in the following paragraphs)
There is one thing I didn't really like about this show, and it's the sudden interest that everybody felt towards him just because of his looks. Like, okay, having good looks can help you in society sometimes, I won't deny it, but it has just been pushed a little too far in that show.
One thing I really liked about this show, on the other hand, was the way the character used his new ability to his advantage. I mean, imagine all the things you could do in one day if you never had to sleep again. People (me included) always complain about how little time they have in a day to do everything they want to, you could have double the time!
Or sometimes people say that, in life you have three possible ways of life:
good work - good social life - bad sleep
good social life - good sleep - bad work
good sleep - good work - bad social life
It's pretty simplified but you get the idea. You always have to do sacrifices in life, but when you have the ability to stay awake 24/7, you don't need to sacrifice so much anymore!
And that's what I liked the most in this show: seeing the character organize his new life.

So... I just finished reading this manga, and never have I felt so sad to reach the end of a manga before!
You know that feeling when you don't know what to do with you life all of a sudden? You don't wanna read another manga because you know it wouldn't compare. You don't really wanna do anything because you know there won't be a next volume, or even a next chapter, of that series you enjoyed reading so much.
That's how I'm feeling right now, I didn't want this manga to end, or at least not before 5 or 10 other volumes.
Now, let me tell you
...
what this is about and why I liked it so much!
Wotakoi is what I would call a perfect example of a slice of life manga: there is not really any plot or story, you're just reading the daily life of a young couple of wotakus and their friends, that's all, no bad guy, no quest, no nothing, just wotakus living their lives.
But what makes it so great, is that every character feels so relatable, as they are all just normal humans. You can't help but relate to them at some point. And when you start relating to them, you start loving them, and you just want to know more and more about them, so you continue reading until you've had enough (which is clearly not my case after 11 volumes but anyway). And since the characters are so relatable, you also feel every emotion they feel.
The humor is pretty good too. I remember that, one scene in particular, even made me laugh out loud, which was a first for me.
The cherry on top were Fujita's footnote on every page, they really added something to my enjoyment.
I won't say much about the art, apart from the fact that it is perfect, like the rest of the manga!
There may be only one flaw to this masterpiece, and it's the fact that it's finished.
Usually, I don't like reading series that last for more than 20 volumes, because I always end up thinking that they are just trying to make as much money as they can by publishing as many volumes as possible before the manga loses its hypes.
But for Wotakoi, it's different, I definitely feel like it was too short! Even Fujita admits, at the end of the last volume, that there were so many things she wanted to show us but that they wouldn't fit into one volume... So why not giving us at least a twelfth volume???
But I have to say it still ends with a pretty good ending, a lot happened in this eleventh volume but it didn't feel rushed or anything. I think I'm just really sad that I won't ever have any new story to read about Nifuji, Narumi, and the others...

I loved the story, but to say that I loved the anime, that's another story...
Why's that? Because out of 26 episodes, only six of them are really contributing to the main story of the show. The rest consists of fillers adding some more or less relevant character development, that's all.
If I had to do it again, I would only watch the episodes 1, 5, 12, 13, 25, and 26. That's all you need to watch in order to understand the main story, you're missing some character development but it wasn't so important in the first place.
The only drawback in doing this is that Faye's story
...
will remain incomplete, but if you want to know more about her you can just add 5 more episodes to the list: 3, 15, 18, 23, and 24.
Here you have it, the 11 must-watch episodes of the series, the rest felt more or less boring and useless to me.
If it wasn't for all those filler episodes, I would've easily given it an 8 but I really felt like I was wasting my time when watching some of those so I'm going with a 6.

Why did I keep watching?
Because I liked the animation, the fights, and because I wanted to get answers and try to understand the show, which has proven to be impossible...
I had really high expectations for this show, but I must be stupid as it didn't make any sense to me. I spent my whole time wondering if there was a point to any of the scenes I watched.
First, I've never been able to relate to the main character, he always pissed me off and always acted in a so unpredictable way that I couldn't understand why this or that happened.
As I said earlier, few things
...
made sense to me, and most of the events in the show didn't. Every time I thought I was starting to understand the plot, a new plot twist would just completely eradicate my understanding.
They spent an entire show fighting against creatures to save humanity... to eventually transform humanity into one "virtual" whole?
Sorry but I don't bite into that stuff.
The beginning of the show was more than okay, but the more I kept watching, the more I got unanswered questions, and the more I got kind of bored. I just kept watching with the hope to get my answers, but in the end, I was only left with even more questions than before, and a tremendous amount of disappointment.
Luckily they made a new ending which was better than this show's, but still not what I expected from a show with such a high score.
I've never been left with such a disappointment after watching an anime said to be one of the greatest. I'm feeling so sorry for giving this anime a 5 when everybody gives it an 8 or higher, this one is completely average to me.

Without talking about the fact that we are left with an open ending (which I hate), a lot of questions are still unanswered to me, which leaves me with the impression that this new ending is still not a good end. It's till better than the first one fortunately, but still no great...
And why did they feel the need to put real images during the movie while the only good point of this anime is the animation? Like for real, I don't see what this may have added to the show... Yet another thing that I c'ant manage to understand.
I've never been left with such a disappointment after watching an anime said to be one of the greatest. I'm feeling so sorry for giving this anime a 4 when everybody gives it an 8 or higher, this one is completely average to me.
