The genre of the spin off is : Comedy, Fantasy
If it was slice of life, I would have given it a 6 at best.
Even Slice of life animes like "By the Grace of the Gods" and "The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash" or Food animes like "Delicious in Dungeon" have better character development and plot.
Even Naruto fillers had better character development and plot than this.
This spin-off is as bad as the fillers of One piece (including the 23 minute clay animation episodes).
The characters follow their simplistic character traits and have no growth.
The stories are neither humorous nor worth pondering.

The main story is about an office worker and a pet bird he bought.
Imagine if you took all fantasy tropes, put them in a blender and let it blend. What you will get is Sasaki to Pii-Chan. It involves multiple elements of fantasy anime. Somehow they managed to keep it coherent and interesting and enjoyable. If they did not take it seriously, this would have been the ultimate parody anime. But since they do, it is a good fantasy anime. The MC nature and back story are developed. But there are many side characters to keep track of who will be underdeveloped. ...

The chaos is so amazing... This anime wastes no time on slow expositions or dragging on battles... Characters come and go... Viewers get value for each moment. There are a lot of strong forces that want to go their own way. But they end up colliding with the Main character. The screenplay is great. ...

This is technically a calming slice of life type action fantasy anime.
The character and surrounding people are developed well. There are fights at intervals. The concept is familiar yet unique. The screenplay has some depth and it keeps you interested. Watch it when you want a chill anime. Adventuring and its risks are well explained. One good part - No extremely annoying character which has now become a common trait. This makes the anime so peaceful. ...

Overhyped average anime.
Issues - The main character changes wisdom based on plot requirements. Not even street smart in basic fights. Dumb af. And then as plot needs, he will turn into Master Oogway (Kung fu panda) with all wisdom and experience. The pace in first two episodes was decent but it should have been a 40 min pilot episode. Would have made more sense. The pace seems to be uneven and becomes downright sedated. ...

Turned into an average damsel makes life difficult for MC (antagonist/revengist) show after the 3rd ep. Seen this trope everywhere and it is equally irritating everytime. (Not just anime but even TV shows like 24). The amount of non-sensible plot holed twists happen is unbound after ep 4. This is a generic detective series where a duo consisting of MC who is genius eccentric detective and a helpful kind average supporting character solve mysteries. The humor is what makes it a 7. The mysteries are decent and are solved in generally 1-3 episodes. There is a backstory that goes on in the background. The backstory grows and will become the main story for S2 second half (or S3 if it goes that far). The characters have weight and importantly consistency. They don't change nature as plot demands. This movie is pretty much a musical.
There are bits of action, story and humor in between. Apart from the climax fight, this has no exhilarating action. I have given 1 or 2 stars extra just for the end fight. It has been a disappointing movie. The story (which was barely decent) has been underwhelmed by the huge array of songs. They could've built the character better. The connections between the characters could've been explored more to give depth. And it definitely needed more action/humor scenes. ...
