Nothing happens, no one grows or changes. Ending isn't satisfying. Artwork is cool and intentionally grotesque, (fits the story really well.) I think this may just be too short to handle all of the subjects that it throws at us, or follow the main character's journey and grieving process.
By far the worst part is the non ending. Why not just actually show the whole thing? It wasn't very well built up to, so there wasn't suspense leading up to it; it felt like something that should happen midway through the story, and it didn't even register as a final panel at first. I don't

mind cliffhanger endings, but this is the kind of thing that should just be shown, and not left up to interpretation.
This story has two main themes: The grieving process and abuse. Neither of these get develop or get talked about in any meaningful way, we just see them happen. Perhaps this would have worked better had it been about twice as long. There's not much that happens. The plot is that the main character is upset, and nothing else really happens. Mariko isn't really even given a personality.
