The anime actually starts quite strong. The characters although generic seem quite likable, and plot's easy to follow. The few starting episodes are very well-animated and the action sequences are quite a sight to behold. But somehow the anime fumbles the story afterwards. The story is suddenly ripped apart from the main story to a side story that's very in-cohesive and incoherent at times. The power scaling completely falls apart. Every new "enemy" that gets introduced completely lacks character and just feels bland. Even the side characters completely fall flat compared to the first parts of the anime.
