Silver Spoon was such a good watch for me. I'm not one to watch Slice of Life Animes; most have never appealed to me. There's was something different about this one though, maybe it was the agricultural twist? Or the fact that the manga was drawn by Hiromu Arakawa. I don't know, but I'm so glad that I gave it a shot.
I really connected with the main character, Hachiken, everything he goes throughout the show just resonated in me somehow; its something I have never felt in another anime. I could only think "Is
...
this me in another world? Another life?" and the supporting cast is just a fricken' great, there really isn't any character I am just utterly displeased with. All of them are pretty well rounded and fit into their trope accordingly.
The music isn't spectacular, but that is honestly fine. Its there to give you the proper emotions and that's all this show needs honestly. The opening theme and closing theme are both pretty good, I especially love the ending, something about it makes me happy.
The art is really nice to look at, and most of the animals that are depicted are animated very well, aside from a few horse shots. Still, it was great to look at the scenery whenever they showed off their environmental skills and the characters all look great and pretty distinct from one another. So there's no mix up of "Is that the same spikey haired guy?"
All in all, Silver Spoon was a good, funny, and actually thought provoking anime. Will I continue to watch into Season Two? You betcha! Thanks for reading if you made it all the way down here, and I hope you enjoy the amazing eleven episode runtime.
~Cheers~ Tom
