Usagi drop is an Anime that definitely has charm. The intro music in itself was enough to bring a smile to my face.
If I were to summarize the feel of the show it is that it is something to watch on a lazy weekend or to lighten your heart after a hard day at work.
The main protagonist 30 year old Daikichi certainly proves himself, sticking by what he believes is right even if it makes life more difficult for him. This instantly makes his character likable, despite no other immediately special or interesting features about him. He is just an average guy. He is not

a hero out to slay monsters but a hero that feels closer to home, a parent, which is what makes this show so special. He dives into a whole new battle, raising a child, with almost the naivety of a child himself.
The progression of the story certainly seems natural and in no way forced, feeling realistic in both the character development and how the plot is portrayed. However, I will admit my mind struggled to come to terms with the main concept and catalyst of the tale, Rin being the illegitimate child of Daikichi's 70 odd year old grandfather, but it didn't take me long to get over the weirdness of the situation and enjoy the relationship between the two protagonists and the direction that they take.
The joy, laughs and feelings it brings are all through general acts in the everyday that are brought about by having to raise a child. There is nothing groundbreaking there, but the tenderness and beauty of it is what I found so enjoyable.
The art style is not one I would typically be drawn to, but it fits the show perfectly through its subtlety and uncliche feel. It definitely complements the simplicity of an every day style story with its neutrality and it also allows a feeling of nostalgia and warmth to be portrayed. For these reasons I wouldn't want anyone to choose not to watch this show if they are not keen on the art style, it is worth it.
Usagi Drop is a beautiful and heartwarming show which left me wanting more, and although after completing the series I did feel there was not a true air of finality, after looking up the continuation in the manga I am glad to see it left as it; giving you a taste of sweet longing and innocence.
