This kind of show, with so many ongoing and interleaving threads, is hard to review on the first viewing... I expect with a rewatch it would be so much more rewarding.
Right from the outset you're bombarded with all these characters and ongoing stories, and you're just going to feel overwhelmed by the sheer scope of the plot. Stick with it as it wildly cuts between story threads and it will all magically piece itself together by the end. Haven't finished it yet, but I think it's short and trashy enough to be worth at least that.
The major thing that bugs me is the plot feels... contrived. One convenient thing happens right after another just to keep the story moving. Which I guess keeps the show from dragging, but gives an awkward pacing to the story they're weaving. I have mixed feelings on how they do the gore/violence in this show. In the splatter genre, violence is drawn out, and all the gory little details are shown to try and make your skin crawl. Here, yeah, you regularly see copious amounts of extreme violence, but ... |
