Not sure how much art contributes to the quality, but I can assure you that the artwork and animation is astounding. There is scenery in the film that's incredible, they're gorgeous and very appealing to look at. The animation is fluid, the battle scenes are fluid, and oh my goodness the scenery - THE SCENERY!

The story, however, cannot be said the same. It may just be my own preferences - but I like slow-burn romances, things such as:

1.) it takes weeks to kindle even a friendship among the duo
2.) they've known each other for at least a couple months before advancing the relationship
3.) and major ...

A lull in the sea is beautiful, full of captivating story lines and lovable characters. The art is gorgeous beyond words could describe and don't even get me started on how they convey their theme! The last episode had me bawling (for several different reasons.) This anime is a work of art and very deserving of a watch.

But let me tell this one thing, and if you haven't finished the last episode, please do before reading this (it's not a spoiler of any sort, but it does ruin the surprise (if it does count as a surprise (it did for me)))
