I can't answer certain questions without venturing into spoiler territory but I will say this, you are correct in believing that the reason Okabe keeps going back is to try and make sure that Mayuri lives. Each time he alters a specific choice but Mayuri still meets the same fate so then he goes back to try again, rinse & repeat.

The machine allows for time travel but they can only send messages into the past. Each time Okabe goes back in time, there are slight changes to the timeline and every decision he makes alters the timeline further. I hope that his answers your question without spoiling anything. (Don't worry about it at all!)

Yeah there is an OVA for HS of the Dead but it is basically just a glorified beach episode. I haven't heard anything about another season so I was kind of disappointed because I felt that there was no resolution to the series whatsoever.

What specifically don't you understand about Steins;Gate? I don't want to spoil anything and some of your questions may be answered as the show moves forward. I'd be happy to help with anything specific though!

Wow that was fast lol so what'd you think of High School of the Dead then? Steins;Gate is one of my favorites, it started out a bit slow for my taste but it really picks up. You made a great choice!

That's great, I will have to hurry up and finish it to catch up. I thought HSOTD was alright but it could've been better in my view with a few minor changes so let me know whenever you finish it. I remember that it was really heavy with fan service out of what I have seen at least.

Wonderful to hear, there is nothing better than finishing a rewarding series especially one that is so long! I still have the last 3 episodes of Hero Academia but I should be caught up soon so we can talk about it.

No rush or anything like that, I'm sure your plan to watch list is large and growing as mine always is. Luckily I have enjoyed the vast majority of what I have seen rather than regretted it. I have only ever truly dropped a few series and I'd like not to add to that list.
