The only thing to say about Elfen Lied is that it is absolutely disturbing in all of its goriness...but that the characters are so endearing, and the plot is so engrossing, that I was able to look past the bloody aspects that would normally prevent me from watching this type of anime (however, it did take me a few episodes to get acclimated to it, so some amount of psychological prep work might be helpful before watching).
